Nice Guy Syndrome – Create better relationship boundaries

So how do you know if you are a nice guy? Well a good place to start is taking this easy survey: here

Nice guys show up in many ways, one of the more painful is running covert contracts according to Dr. Robert Glover’s book, No More Mr. Nice Guy. Another is an inability to set boundaries with our closest and maybe in our workplace. Actually, they are both related. Instead of being clear and setting a boundary, we create a cover contract where we expect the other person do something for us without us having to ask – why? Because we are way too afraid to ask.

Us nice guys are not wanting to rock the boat so we keep doing things for others, mainly women in order to get a favour. We hate conflict too, so we don’t bring up what really we think is unacceptable behaviour.

All of this builds up and up over the years in a long term relationship. As you can imagine it doesn’t create trust (NB. one of the key desires for a woman).

So, what can you do about it? It’s simple… and not – Ask For What You Want
